Q: Has BMW ever produced a vehicle called the X6 ?
Me and a friend are in a debate over the existence of a car called the BMW X6. We both acknowledge that it is in development for release in 2007-2008, but I say that is the first time BMW has used that moniker on a production vehicle. She thinks it was/is the name of a low production volume SUV/crossover vehicle, not sold in the US, or only sold to limited markets. So what is the history (if any) behind the "X6"?

It is expected that it will be released some time during 2007, and will be considerably bigger than the current E53 model and is rumoured to accommodate two extra passengers. The increase in size is due to the uncomfortably close sizes of the current generation X5 and smaller X3 model. The next generation BMW X5 will be 60mm wider, 165mm longer; with a 110mm longer wheelbase, but will remain at the height of the current generation X5 at 1715mm. I can't find the exact price anywhere!

A: Base is $53,000 US. Loaded RIGHT up expect to pay $70,000 before taxes.

A: They will be both stay for sale, the X6 will not be taking over the X5. Personally, I think the X6 will flop due to the awkward looks. I am a die-hard BMW fan, but personally, I think they are trying to fill niches which have absolutely ZERO consumer appeal.

A: For Snow Either BMW's. For Safety Both BMW's. The Best Head Turner Is The BMW X6 With Its Swooped Roof Line In The Back. The BMW's Will Also Have Better Resale Value and Reliability Than The Mercedes-Benz. I Love Either BMW. The Mercedes, Not So Much.

I've been waiting for the release of the x6. its on BMWs website but there is no price or release date

A: The X6 will go on sale in the US in late spring of 2008 as a 2008 model. The X6 will be offered in the US as an X6 xDrive35i equipped with the same 300 hp twin-turbo 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine that you already know from several other BMW models and as an X6 xDrive50i equipped with a new 400hp 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine.

A: I prefer Range Rovers. If you want a BMW, I think the X5's look A LOT better than the X6's.

A: BMW has not released prices yet. At this point we all have are guesses. (Maybe $50,000-$60,000) The official launch date for the X6 3.0 is April 19, 2008. Prices should be out soon. A: If you are purchasing it new (which I'm assuming you are, since the car just came out) the maintenance will be free for the first 4 years or 48,000 miles. It's part of BMW's full maintenance program included on all new vehicles

Q: The new BMW x6 is suppose to be a hibrid, what is the mpg?


A: I have not heard of it having a hybrid engine. I have heard of it having a 3.0 liter twin turbo inline 6 and a 4.4 liter twin turbo V8. 300 and 400 HP. Maybe 20 mpg is my guess for both.

I have just seen the BMW X6. DO any of you think it's ugly?

A: I think it's FUGLY. Like a Toyota Prius and BMW X5 had a big, ugly baby. I actually love BMWs, but this is one of the ugliest things they've created.
