A: The car would have come from the factory with a recommended octane. I recommend you stay at that level or above. Example, if the car has a minimum octane rating of 89 then try a 91 or even a 93 octane. Using a lower grade can hurt the engine.

A: nj973man may be right. I had to replace the regulator on our 325iT, and knowing (I thought!) how limited warranties are (especially extended warranties) I didn't bother asking the BMW service dept. I took it to a local independent BMW specialist and they replaced the regulator for about $300. Later, when we took the car in for its regular service, I mentioned it to the service writer, and he said they would have replaced it on warranty. Live and learn! It never hurts to ask! A: If your question is which car has the better exhaust sound? l would suggest the answer is 'neither one'. Why? Because both of these high performance cars are too quiet when doing their performance thing. Both cars are being constricted because of the stock exhaust systems.

I have changed the brakes at a friends shop on my daughter's BMW X5 whcih is 2004 and has 38k miles on it, however the warranty is out cuz of the 4ys are up. after the pads were replaced the brake light stayed on indicating that the brake is on or something. please help if any one can. thanks

A: did you replace the brake wear sensors at the same time?, how about topping the brake fluid off?, On some BMW models even when the wear sensors are replaced it takes several miles before the light re-sets itself . hope this helped

A: 4.4 has 4.4L 315 hp V8 as the 3.0 has only a 3.0L 225 hp I6. Leather seats are optional on 3.0 and on 4.4 their standard Thats about it, so basically if you want a more powerful engine go with the 4.4 and you can add everything you want in it.

Well I always wanted a BMW since I'm little. I like suv's, they are what i learned on. My dad agreed to get me a BMW X5 but he wants me to get a 3.0i because I'm known for a lead foot. I think I can talk him into getting me a 4.4i. My brother and girlfriend think the X5 is girly. I would probably get the truck in Silver, Toledo Blue, or the Slate color. Does anyone else think that the X5 is meant for girls? any other cars you reccomend? I'm 17

A: You just asked this question. Don't get something so old. Get something new that you can afford. And the 4.4i is still slower than my mom's E550 4matic (and her old C320 4matic!). How does that make you feel? The 7.2 seconds from 0-60 is nothing impressive. The interior is also hideous (typical BMW). Drive it and you won't want one. They're sluggish and even the jacked up engine doesn't accelerate quickly. Sad.

A: a 2004 x5 would be the way to go. it is not girly, they are great vehicles. the 4.4 is also the way to go, the 3.0 engine just cant keep up with the rest of the vehicle in my opinion and the v8 sounds awesome... do not go for an updated x5 (E70) (2008 model) they dont have the balls that a 4.4 E53 does... as long as the major upkeep has been done on it you wont get any nasty surprises down the road (lower intake reseal) could cost you more than a grand easy at the dealer... hoses and cooling sys problems are all or none (if one goes, usually you can expect to replace the rest sooner than later) also we have problems with the tailights burning......otherwise, it is a very fine vehicle, definately not girly.... go for it! good luck

The question I have is do you think the X5 is some what girlish? I'm going to be stuck with the car till im probably 25 so I need to like it. The problem with the Explorer is that it eats up way to much gas. My mom and dad want me to get an Edge, and they think they can make the decision because they are buying the car. A: The X5 uses more gas than an Explorer, but is the fastest and best handling choice. Explorer has no advantages. Edge is best on gas, but ugliest.

A: The BMW is a VERY nice car. It handles better than most other suvs, is luxurious, good aesthetics, and the engine works like a dream. However, even second-hand X5s are fairly pricey, and the car isn't so easy on gas or maintenance either (replacement parts are expensive.) However, if you can cope with that, it offers the most rewarding experience of the trio you mentioned. Personally I would stay away from Ford. The Explorer is quite a nice car for daily commuting in the city- probably the easiest on fuel of the three, but lacks the BMW's punch on highways. However, the car should be far more cheaper than the Bimmer in purchase price, insurance, gas, and maintenance. The Ford Edge was a quite unexpected product from ford. The car looks features a futuristic design. To me, however, the car looks merely boxy and unappealing. It soaks up bumps really well though, but the 'sport' department is certainly lacking. It is also not wanna of those cars you would get 30 mpg on it. Here are some other cars that I'm sure would be more satisfying: Lexus RX330, Acura RDX, Toyota RAV4, Infinite FX35. I usually stick with Japanese cars due to its build quality, value, and performance compared to american cars. Anyways, hoped this helped =)
