A: No! It's not just a seat. There are a number of considerations even if you found someone willing to perform such an unsafe modification. Seat mounting points, able to withstand the force of an adult in event of any type of collision, Seat belt anchor points. Visibilty for driver. Modern cars are built to accept such installations or not. It's not wise to chance your luck on attempting such mods.

A: It is a chain-type. And there is no specific time or mileage
given by BMW when you have to change it. It is time to change it when it becomes noisy (or maybe not even so, for the chain guides and tensioner could be the reason for the noise and should be the ones changed). If the timing is off due to wornout chains, usually the DME/engine computer manages to compensate for this. When changing timing chains, the condition of the upper and lower gears/sprockets should preferably be also changed specially if the gears are sharp and deeply grooved.

A: Well i currently have a 2005 X5 3.0i and my last car was a 2002 GMC Yukon that had the 5.3L 8 in it.The Yukon was very powerful had lots of tourqe and power but got really bad mpg it rode really good(mine had the autoride susp)it wasn't that bad to park but it was also a Yukon(Tahoe) not a Yukon XL(Suburban).The interior was really comfy mine had the SLT group(leather,htd seats,moonroof).the 3rd seat in the Yukon or Tahoe is really cramped though(probably not in a Suburban all the extra length).I got 139,000 miles of good service out of it(would still have it if gas wasn't so high).The towing was good towed my boat on the weekends no prob!Now for the beemer!the 6 has lots of tourqe that will get you off a stoplight really quickly to 65mph!it rides real smooth and tight!no rattles at all really solid car!mine currently has 52,000 miles on it.The mpg is better than my GMC but still isn't just great.reliability is good only in shop for oil changes you know just reg maintenance.the interior is really nice (leather,htd seats,nav,BIG sunroof).In your case I'd go for the Chevy if its $13,000 cheaper!thats about the diff in the sticker for the two of mine Yukon was $44,000 new BMW was $51,000 new.Either way the mpg's aren't real good and both are reliable if maintained.Good luck!
Q: Help! 2001 BMW X5 or 325i?
I can't decide between buying a used 2001 X5 or 2001 325i. Both vehicles have around the same mileage but the X5 is about $2,000 more (but with more options). The X5 is white with tan leather, very nice woodgrain trim interior, cd player, heated seats, moonroof, almost all the options one could ask for! The 325i is black with tan leather as well, but does not have a cd player and the radio/dash display is scratched up a bit. It also has a moonroof, and would get significantly better gas mileage. I'm 24 with no children, so having an SUV at this particular moment is not a must, but I know it would come in handy more times than not. Although, the 325i is super cute and VERY fun to drive, seeming more like the "younger crowd's" choice of vehicle. I'm in love with both, so I'm very torn! (if you couldn't tell) The X5 would be practical for space reasons and such, but the 3-series is very cute and fun. Help!
A: i think you should stick with the 325i, the suv is a gas guzzler.
Q: Can the onboard screen in BMW X5 2001 changed with the one of the 2002?
the one on the 2001 is the small screen with the tape player and the one in the 2002 in the bigger one without the tape player
if it is possible do they fit exactly or some tailoring needs to be made??
A: I think some settings must be done after installing the new one. You might need to change the whole onboard navigation system / radio / CD player. Better check that at BMW.
Q: BMW 2001 X5 trans goes in limp home mode?
Start the SAV back up it's OK put it in drive and fault comes up on the console. Does it just need reprograming???
A: I own a transmission shop, and can tell you this; If it keeps going into limp mode, then there is a reason for it. The best advice I could give you is; Take it to a reputable shop that can pull the codes, and see what is going on with it. It is better to take it there now, or face the big bucks later down the road. Limp mode is designed to just get you where you can get help, and not drive around for days wondering why the light is on. Do yourself a favor and have it checked out.

Q: What type of battery does a 2001 BMW X5 have?
I have a '00 X5 3.0 and I'm pretty sure the battery is really low and needs replacing. I try to start it, and when I turn the key the xenon lights start to flicker and it makes this loud clicking noise, simultanously with the flickering lights. Everything works fine, the radio, dash lights, etc;. I think it's just that the battery does not have enough power to start the car. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated as this is an urgent matter. Thanks so much to anyone who answers!

You can pick them up at Kragen (or other stores) for about $90. They retail around $180 from BMW, so this is a good deal.

A: Hi, I'm a BMW tech. and I'll say in heart beat the 330.
The X5 is a gas guzzler, it suffers from many well known weak points, it eats trough tires like I go trough a pack of Oreo cookies and said tires on the 4.4 are mighty expensive.
+ the worst is to see your tires almost brand new on the outside edge and trough the cord on the inside due to insane amounts of camber required to give the truck the road-handling capabilities it has.
It develops more rattles over time than a mid 90 Chevy Cavalier.
And is very expensive to maintain, not so much in parts, but in labor, because of the time required to disassembled any ting on the truck.
Let's say we take an late model E53 X5, to replace a $2 front flasher bulb, it takes about 45min to an hour, because you have to pull off the bumper cover in order to be able to pull out the one piece headlamp/flasher unit, because it's encased in sheet metal and you can`t reach it from behind and that's just one example among many.
On the other hand, the 330 is an awesome machine, it's as reliable as Bimmers can get, specially in 4 door. The coupe has more rattle and leak problems with the frame less door window and they're a pain to adjust.
