Q: How expensive is it to own a 2004 BMW M3 as far as maintenance is concerned?
I'm looking to buy one, please keep in mind I have owned a 2001 BMW 7 series so I know a little something about them but was just concerned about the M/// Division because of the high performance parts.

A: The E38 was a very solid dependable car so comparing a luxury sedan to a border line race car won't work. You had a great car in the 7 and the M3 is another great car. Because it is basically a detuned race car cost of ownership will be more than a standard vehicle. The cost of parts specific to the car will be pricey but also consider that the car needs to be kept in perfect tune which means more trips to the shop unless you can do it yourself. Compared to the true M cars (pre '95) they are relatively easy to service and maintain and don't need quite as much attention. A guess would put it at about 25% more expensive than your E38 if it was a 750i and 30% more expensive if it were a 740i.

Q: Which car is better? 2004 BMW M3 or 2002 Porsche Carrera?
I am wondering which car is better between 2004 Bmw M3 and 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera. I do not know much about Porsches but I have heard from many people that its cornering is excellent but the space inside is kind of small and tight. If you have any experiences with this car can you let me know? Also, just let me know which car is better and why. Thanks.

A: Porsche is a high-end sports car. The 2002 Porsche Carrera: It goes from 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds. Top speed is around 175mph. The 2004 BMW M3: It goes from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. Top speed is 155mph limited. Real top speed is around 165mph. The Porsche is more aerodynamic and handles better. Both are RWD. Porsche competes with Lamborghini and Ferrari so they handle just as good as Ferrari's and Lamborghini's and go just as fast. The BMW M3 competes with the Audi RS4. Porsche is much better is you want a sportscar.

Q: How much do you think 2004 BMW M3 insurance would be for someone who has been driving for 5 clean years?
i live in Massachusetts and am debating between an M3 or a mini cooper... both are extremely fun to drive but i was curious on M3 insurance. Also wouldn't mind advice on what other people would choose. currently have 12k saved... the mini cooper s will be brand new at 24k and the m3 will be around 34

A: go to geico.com and esurance.com and get some quotes. i think the difference should be around $500/yr the key thing that will be expensive is maintenance and repairs. the m3 will be more expensive obviously. tires alone will be much more expensive if you have the cash flow, you can't go wrong with the m3

Q: Does a 2004 BMW M3 come equipped with a superchargers or is it a naturally aspired inline 6 cylinder?

A: The M3's S54 is a naturally aspirated engine that produces more than 100 horsepower per litre.

Q: Should i go for a manual gearbox or SMG on a 2004 BMW M3?
Ive always driven manual cars and worry that i might miss the involvement of a manual clutch if i go for an SMG gearbox - but ive heard good things about the SMG so i dont want to dismiss it completely.any thoughts? its seems that most were made with the SMG box - most available second hand are SMG with a few mannuals scattered about.

A: On a car like that, i'd go manual all the way. It's so much more fun too.

Q: How much is insurance on a 2004 bmw m3???
Im 20 years old. Got my license on my 16 birthday so 4 years driving. 4.0 gpa No tickets or accidents on my record. I need it to be like $2000 a year. O and does anyone think $27000 dollars for a 2004 m3 with 62000 miles is too much? It has 19rims and murdered out. Thanks Everyone!!! Thanks for the help guys. I just called and got some quotes. If I am joint on my moms insurance on the car the cost through allstate is 100 a month. Less than my previous four door lancer... Weird??

A: Why don't you just ask your insurance company? just call a rep and ask. When I bought mine I got so caught up in the excitment I forgot to ask. I was pleasantly surprised. So just call and ask. I mean none of us can give you a straight answer b/c we aren't insuring you. if you don't like how much it is then shop around. wawanesa is really cheap.

Q: Hay I am 16 and i have a rsx type-s and i have a chance to get a 2004 BMW M3 Should I buy it why/why not?
And are they really very expensive to maintain and fix

A: If you are able to respect the car, such as regular maintenance and good judgement while driving, it's probably one of the best "driver's cars" you can ever get. If you follow the maintenance schedule and proper care, they are actually very reliable cars and not very expensive to maintain. If you are very busy and don't always have the time for maintenance, the repairs will get very expensive and very frequent later on. If your driving is a bit on the reckless side, you would probably be safer with your current car which is nice and also more affordable in the long run. Repairing damage to an M3 will probably be about 2-3 times more expensive than an RSX. Lots of people overestimate their driving ability and a high horsepower rear wheel drive car is not very forgiving. I know of many stories of people not just damaging their M3 but destroying it, as well as getting their license suspended for over a year. This is the biggest part of the choice and it is entirely up to you to choose. The same applies to many other high performance sports cars. If you can follow the maintenance schedule and be a smart driver, I would say full heartedly to pick the M3. Best of luck!

Q: I own a 2004 BMW M3, is it faster than the 350Z??

A: Yes, in the 1/4 mile at least. I have been to the drag strip with my car once. I was a full second faster than a 350Z with a 50 shot of Nitrous. He was asking me how my car was so much faster. I didn't even get the fastest time I have heard of M3s getting, which is upper 12s. I got a 13.3. Of course it could have been driver, or whatever else, but this is my story, I was there. I beat him time and time again in the low 13s.

Q: What is better.. a 2004 or 5 bmw m3 or a 2007 335i? please help me?
So i was looking to get the "better" deal as far as which would be nicer to drive, considering they are both fantastic cars. i was considering some feed back, which one do you like better and why? 2004 or 2005 bmw m3 or 2007 bmw 335i?

A: Depends on what you want out of it. I have an M3, it is an awesome car, but not the most comfortable all the time. It's stiff, and the power comes on NOW. But, I like it that way, it's what I wanted. I race it occasionally (not a poser, on a track), and I didn't want anything to be compromised. A 335, while fast, is still going to be more for comfort. Easier to drive. Better for a family. I know many will disagree, but I like my M3, it's why I bought it. You have to decide what you want out of this car.
